These are buffelgrass times that we’re living in — and our job is to turn all these weeds into resources.
We’re doing that in a literal way at our brickyard in Tucson, turning buffelgrass brought as food for big cattle — but now destroying the desert — into high-tensile-strength adobe for sustainable, beautiful housing for those whose lives have been cast off by capitalism.
This is only the tip of the weedbag, though. In every industry are noxious substances, imported or invented, that no longer serve their original purposes — which anyhow were often not so good. We can find new ways to use them — and in the process adjust our broken, often unpleasant, misaligned world.
